Based upon the fragments of a Viking Lyre found at Sutton Hoo the lyre has six strings. The bridge is movable so tuning has a wide range of possibilities. 

Two playing techniques are possible. One is to pluck the strings, the other is to cancel out strings not to play from the back and strum. A case is available for $75.  $25 shipping.

This Medieval Lyre was taken from an ancient carving and serves today as an excellent instrument to play. It's thirteen strings from Middle C to A' give a big mellow sound much like a small harp. It's available in Cherry (as
shown), Walnut, Tiger Maple (add'l $25), Mahogany, or Padauk.

A Birch laminate case with foam padding and brass hardware is available for $75.
