Beginning in 1987 with a seemingly simple request from a daughter for a harp, Silvershell Musical Instruments has evolved into making a broad range of early instruments. Each is characterized by classic stylized shape, excellent tone, and fine workmanship. Located in PA, instruments can be seen by appointment.

Owner Al Winters has been a woodworker and instrument maker for over twenty-five years. He is an active member of the Harrisburg and York PA woodworking clubs. He works and teaches classes at the Harrisburg Woodcraft store. Al is also active in the SCA, the Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org) and merchants at many SCA events. Al, and wife Marilyn's, only other vice is reading mystery books with a library of almost four thousand, and still growing.
